What Plus bundles and what it meters
Konnect Plus includes a genuine AI feature set at no extra line: unlimited agents for agent-to-agent traffic, a Universal LLM API across up to 5 unique models, unlimited MCP server proxies, PII sanitization and prompt guardrails, LLM access control and auth, token-based rate limiting with semantic caching, and token-level observability with real-time cost analytics. Budget the metered lines separately: $100 per month per model proxy, and the paid plugin bundle plus AI Gateway Manager as an add-on.
AI Proxy abstracts provider routing. AI Prompt Guard enforces input policy. AI Semantic Cache reduces provider token cost when context repeats.
When Portkey is cheaper
Portkey on its own Production tier is cheaper than Konnect Plus + AI plugins for buyers who do not need Konnect for non-LLM gateway work.

Kong now publishes a price for the AI Gateway model proxy where it previously bundled it: $100 per month per model on Plus with a limit of 5 model proxies, custom with volume discounts on Enterprise. AI Gateway paid plugins and AI Gateway Manager are an add-on on Plus and included on Enterprise.

What carries a separate charge is the model proxy at $100 per month per model, and the paid plugin bundle plus AI Gateway Manager as an add-on. The floor is therefore the Konnect Plus control-plane cost, from $25 per month for a serverless control plane, not a $250 platform fee. Self-hosted OSS Kong with AI plugins is free at the binary level but carries the same ops overhead as Kong OSS.
